Freestyle Photographic Supplies proudly announces a new upcoming gallery show
entitled “ROUTE 66”, featuring the fine-art black & white works of photographer Steve
Anchell. Over a time period of nearly ten years, Anchell traversed the legendary
highway, documenting with his oversized cameras the remnants of the American road
culture that had flourished in the middle of the 20th century. In an era where the
superhighway often dictates the pace of travel and quality of life in the heartland,
Anchell’s photographs recall a slower, less mechanized time that has been left behind
in the name of what some are hesitant to call “progress”. As he himself describes, “For
a moment in time Route 66 was a ribbon that connected us with the land, its people,
and our dreams. It was the highway that brought us from the past to our future.”
