Which you can buy. Only $10! On that evening! With your name in it and everything!
Proceeds from the book go to a charity for kids learning photography (Snapshop).
That's right - your future competitors.
Show your character and photos anyway. We'll present them whether you win or not.
Plus pizza and beer (and veggies, fruit, sodas, wine, and like-that-there, too).
The slideshow is open to ALL. Come even even if you don't submit photos.
But, really....You got a phone, right? They all come with cameras, right?

Here's what we need from you:
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 11:59 PM, March 24, 2011
NUMBER: Up to three.
SIZE: 1,200 pixels minimum on the short side.
COLOR SPACE: sRGB
FILE TYPE: JPG
RESOLUTION: Don't worry about it! Whatever!
You are going to name each file like this:
FirstName_LastName_1, FirstName_LastName_2, FirstName_LastName_3
You get the idea.

“Plastic Perception” a toy camera photography contest

Long Beach City College presents “Plastic Perception” a toy camera photography contest.
“Photographing with simple plastic lens, these low-tech devices came to be popular with photographers, Plastic cameras, such as the original Diana and Holga appeal to a wide range of people. To some, they are a novelty; a cheap toy to play with. For many veteran photographers, they are a breath of fresh vision, allowing lightness and joy back into tired eyes.” – Michelle Bates, Toying with Creativity.
To enter contest use drop off-boxes at both Long Beach City College campuses, K119 at LAC Campus and OO3 at PCC Campus and fill out entry form.
Winners will be announced Friday April 1st 2011, at 6pm at Artist Reception held at The EXPO Building 4321 Atlantic Ave, Long Beach CA 90807.
Prizes include: Lomography Diana Deluxe set and other cash prizes. Judges for this plastic event are Craig Havens and David Daigle.
This event is open to the public.
To Enter:
Use drop off-box located at each campus’s photo lab
3 entries per person, Mat all entries (required)
Please include name, type of toy camera and title of work
Last day to enter is Wednesday March 30, at Noon.

Photographers Night - Aquarium of the Pacific
Now is your chance to take the photos you have always wanted. Back by popular demand, on this night, the Aquarium will be available to photographers for the sole purpose of getting their dream photos without having to worry about the general public either getting in their shots or being bothered by their equipment.
Take your time, set up your shots, and enjoy. In order to create the best environment for our photographers, we will be limiting ticket sales. We highly encourage you to purchase your tickets online ahead of time to guarantee a spot or you may be turned away at the door.
Normally, lights begin to dim as 9:00 p.m. approaches, but on this night, the lights will remain on in all the exhibits in order to provide the best opportunities for photography.*
Cost: $23.95 per person, $18.95 for Aquarium members. No other discounts or special offers will be accepted for this evening.
We are partnering with local camera shop Tuttle Cameras and offering free lens rentals during the event. Nikon and Canon lenses will be available for check out with a valid driver's license. Lighting will also be set up at a couple different stations throughout the Aquarium to allow photographers that don't have that equipment the opportunity to try it out by mounting it to their camera's hot shoe.

We love to see what you come up with, so please share your photos in our Aquarium of the Pacific Flickr Group after the event. You need to have a Flickr account first (they're free). Then join the group and share your shots. Tag them with aopnite0110.
Photo contest
In addition to offering this unique night, anyone who wishes to participate is automatically qualified to enter a special photo contest. This is a great opportunity to share your best shots of the night with the Aquarium of the Pacific. Simply upload your favorites to our Aquarium of the Pacific Flickr Group and tag them with pnc01312010 to enter. Aquarium staff will judge entries. Entry deadline is midnight February 14, 2010. Grand prize will be announced at a later date.

Call For Entries: Young Guns

About the Theme - Young Guns
In keeping with Watson Studio Gallery’s philosophy of providing exposure to emerging photographers, this exhibit will celebrate the world as seen through the eyes of young photographers and digital illustrators. Subject matter is open but should be “family friendly”.
Watson Studio Gallery invites and encourages all young photographers and digital illustrators working in all media, to participate in this exhibition.
Eligibility - Age Restriction:
The exhibition is open to all domestic and international photographers aged 25 years and under (as of February 28, 2009) working with digital or traditional photography, digital/photo illustration or combinations of these media.
Exhibition and Awards:
As a benefit of being selected for this exhibition, artists and their work will be seen by an audience of artists and collectors who appreciate photographic and digital art forms.
-Winning images will be exhibited and available for sale at Watson Studio Gallery in Johnson City, Texas from March 27 to April 25, 2009.
-Winners will also be prominently featured on the Watson Studio Gallery website and be included in news releases to various local and web publications.
-A public reception for the artists will take place on Saturday, March 27th to coincide with opening events at the Kirchman Gallery and Arts Encounters at the Benini Sculpture Ranch.

CALL FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS
First Exposure announces its annual photo show, Exposure 2009, in Long Beach's East Village Arts District.
It is an open show with cash prizes in five catagories: digital and traditional in both black & white and color and mixed media.
We will mount the exhibition on March 1st with opening reception on Saturday, March 14th from 6-9pm at a location to be announced soon.
Entry fees are $30 for three photos or $60 for six. Half price with valid student id.
If you wish to enter the contest, you must provide a floor easel for each entry (one per catagory). Your entry must be unsigned, and you must be at the reception site between 5 and 6 pm on the day of the opening to tell us which picture(s) you want to include in the contest.
