THE BUSINESS OF ARCHITECTURAL PHOTOGRAPHY

THE BUSINESS OF ARCHITECTURAL PHOTOGRAPHY

An ASMP Los Angeles event

With Steve Whittaker

Architectural photography - from marketing to answering the phone to
assignment to delivery.

Topics include:

Lighting small and large spaces.

Contractual issues, estimating, licensing, copyright.

Project coordination, including dealing with assistants.

Marketing strategies, and keeping your "brand" fresh.

Client issues; including award competitions and negative terms and
conditions.

How to identify the client's needs, and how to seamlessly blend them
with the photographer's needs.

How to pack for travel.

How to deal with "buyout" requests and stock sales.

Permits, city officials, shooting on the street, and releases.

Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, and coming from a background of
advertising and graphic design, Whittaker Photography was started in
1980. Steve specializes in architecture, interiors, and aerials. He
shoots for architects, designers, developers, ad agencies, and
editorial clients.
