My Favorite Things...
Marketing Photos with Mary Virginia Swanson
http://marketingphotos.wordpress.com/
This is where I go to get an overview of what's happening in the Photo World. She covers both commercial and fine art events and is a regular at the Festivals and Reviews. This is an excellent site for learning about photo-related lectures in the So. Cal. area.
PDN Pulse
http://www.pdnpulse.com/
The professional photography blog by the editors of Photo District News - the only pro photo magazine really worth reading. This is a "news of the world" approach to photography, also great place to go to find out the latest scandals.
A Photo Editor
http://www.aphotoeditor.com/
This is Rob Haggart's blog, a former Director of Photography for Men's Journal magazine. It's important to get a feeling for how the other side (editors, art directors) sees things. This is where I get to see the most imaginative work happening in the commercial world.
Art MoCo
http://mocoloco.com/art/archives/cat_photography.php
The Modern and Contemporary Art Blog, I've attached the link to photography. This is where I go to see a wide range of contemporary fine art photography. The site covers all types of art forms, so photography is usually added every week or so. Check out the side bar on the right, there's a "White Stripes Holga from the Lomo Society" - they've got both a "Jack" and a "Meg" version.
I heart photograph
http://www.iheartphotograph.blogspot.com/
I love this site, every day you'll find several bodies of work plus, on the right side, a photo of the day. Fine Art oriented, very wide range - from abstraction to narrative.
That should hold you...while you're at it, here's my "one a day" blog, Impermanence.

Photo Club Meeting - This Wed. at LAC
We have a lot to talk about. We're planning a get-together bonfire at the beach, a spring camping trip, and we'd like to get a newsletter started.
Remember to reserve the date - Saturday February 7th. Jeff Smeding's class is planning a field trip and the photo club is invited. We'll hop on the Metro and visit and photograph the Watt's Towers, Union Station and Olvera Street, then head over to Disney Hall and the Central Market. It is a fun day and only costs 5 bucks for an all day metro pass.
See ya Wednesday!

Welcome to Spring Semester!
There are a few changes to tell you about this semester.
First of all, the bookstores at each campus now carry photo supplies. There is B&W darkroom paper and B&W film, inkjet printing paper and 11x and 16x matboard (being sold by the sheet). If these items sell well the bookstore will keep them in stock and probably add more items. If there are supplies that you'd like to see stocked, let us know.
Because of the insane cost of printer ink, the Photo Dept. will now be charging a per-semester fee for using the Epson photo printers.
The following fees will apply:
Art 41, 81, Phot 31, 42, 43, 71-73 fee = $10.00 per semester
Phot 32, 33, 34, 35, 37, 39, 40, 41, 281, 291, 681, fee = $20.00 per semester
The fee will be paid to the Photo Club account #207-0303. You will need to have a receipt and show it to either Neil or Jeff or the instructor in charge. The fee can be paid at the ASB bank, which is located on the first floor under the photo facilites in the gameroom at PCC, or at the rear of the bookstore at the LAC campus
Good Luck this semester! Happy Shooting!
